LLANIGON COMMUNITY COUNCIL

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a casual vacancy is deemed to have occurred in the office of Councillor for the GWERNYFED Ward of the Community of LLANIGON on the resignation on 6th March 2024 of Councillor K. Vaughan


Rule 5 of The Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) Rules 2006, provides that on a casual vacancy occurring in the office of councillor of a community, an election to fill the vacancy shall be held if, within fourteen days (computed as stated below) after public notice of the vacancy has been given in accordance with Section 87(2) of the Local Government Act, 1972, notice in writing of a request for such an election has been given to the proper officer of the council of the county within which the community is situate signed by TEN electors for the electoral area.


The Proper Officer is the Deputy Returning Officer, Powys County Council, County Hall, Llandrindod Wells, Powys, LD1 5LG.

LLANIGON
COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Llanigon Community Council, part of the Gwernyfed Ward, includes Llanigon, Fforddlas, Hay Rural and
Capel-y-ffin. It is close to the Welsh/English Border and extends from the summit of the Black Mountains
to the banks of the River Wye and in part situated within the Brecon Beacons National Park.

There are very few local amenities in the Parish- a Village Hall, a Garage and St Eigon’s Church in
Llanigon and St Mary’s Chuch and a Chapel in Capel-y-ffin.

Local Groups which meet in the Llanigon Hall include Llanigon Young Farmers Club, Luncheon Club,
Friendship Club & Bowls Club

Llanigon YFC Annual Show is held on 2nd Saturday every August

You can contact the Council on any issue to do with the Community via the ‘Contact Us’ link and it
will be raised at the next Council Meeting

Council Meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7pm
